Welcome to the Orfű Mill Museum Website

Have you ever visited Orfű and the Mill Museum? If so, you may be familiar with our website and the various activities that take place over the summer season. If not, we recommend you include the Mill Museum as part of your Orfű experience, and welcome you as our guest!

The Orfű Mill Museum consists of two types of mills. The first, a restored watermill is not just a museum, it is the only watermill in Hungary which is still fully operational and which grinds wheat all year round!

The second, a dry mill, has an enormous tread-wheel which used to be driven by horses, and a 200 year old oil press which gives guests the opportunity to see how oil was produced in the 18th and 19th century from vegetable seeds!

In the summer we bake delicious traditional bread in the Mill’s stone oven and if you take part in our regularly organised baking-schools, you too can have a hands-on approach to improving your baking skills!

On the 20th August we also celebrate the Hungarian Celebration day of the New Bread with colourful programs which include plenty of baking and blessing the New Bread.

In the Mill’s cellar you may want to take a break from the activities by relaxing with a nice glass of Pécsi Cirfandli, the famous local wine, or trying one of our lovely coffee specialities before continuing your walk in the splendid surrounding nature.

During the summer, guests also have the opportunity to buy locally ground flour, or several other increasingly available organic products we have to offer.

The former miller’s house is also the site of the local handicraft society, which gives guests the opportunity to view various handcrafting activities, and also makes the Mill Museum an even more exciting place to be.

If you would like more details of our programs, activities or services please click on the links above. Alternatively, please do not hesitate to contact us, phone or sending an email!

We hope to see you very soon at the Orfű Mill Museum!
